Learning Style
As a certified tutor trained in identifying and adjusting to multiple intelligences, I examine my clients’ methods of communication during the first few meetings. I vary my style of teaching accordingly, but also ask that the client challenge him/herself to exercise his/her weakest intelligences in order to realize the topic at hand from a multi-directional perspective.
Quality
Education, for all ages, is most valuable in the form of qualitative morsels instead of grand journeys. Small endeavors can amount to the greatest achievements, personally and academically. While I utilize repetition as a teaching method, I do not favor mounds of information or demanding work. I believe in every individual’s capacity to complete an imposing task by narrowing his/her focus to this moment, this assignment, this possibility.
Fun
Work is worth little without its complement — fun. From my experience working with clients at all levels, a good laugh and a bit of small talk go a long way. I see the human drive in each person I teach, and nurture it with my emphasis on humor and personal growth.
Friendship
More important than my methods and results are the relationships I form and maintain with clients. I become a mentor to my young clients, a peer to my adult clients. My academic history allows me to relate to your educational needs and goals, no matter your stage in life, but I also find that the most meaningful connections are the personal ones which lie hidden in the realm of academic interaction.
